On 9 August 2026, at just four months of age, our little Shebos Goodness Gracious Me – “Gracie” headed off on quite an adventure to compete at the Queensland Boston Terrier Club Championship Show at Durack, Brisbane.

Gracie was collected along the way by our good friend Amy Gilson of Zareba Boston Terriers, before making the eight-hour journey to Queensland, where she stayed with Jacqui Young for the weekend.

Sending such a young puppy away without me was always going to feel a little strange, but I knew she was in wonderful hands. Amy is a fabulous show handler, and Gracie obviously thought travelling away with Amy sounded like a perfectly good idea!

The Boston Terriers were judged by Mr Adriano Kandijas of Zimony Kennel, Serbia, and Gracie was entered in a lovely class of four Baby Puppy Bitches.

Watching from home via the livestream, I was absolutely delighted to see Gracie show her little heart out for Amy. At only four months old, she looked confident, happy and completely at home in the ring.

Gracie was awarded first place Baby Puppy Bitch, and then went on to be awarded Baby Puppy in Show.

To say I was thrilled would be an understatement.

Of course, every win is special, but this one meant a little more to me.

Gracie is the first puppy I've shown from breeding plans that were already taking shape before her sire, Ego – CH SLV JR CH Victoria's Diamond Ego (Imp SVN) – had even arrived in Australia.

There was a picture in my mind of what I hoped those plans might eventually produce. Breeding dogs rarely follows a perfectly straight path, and there are never any guarantees, but Gracie and her litter were everything I could have hoped for.

To now watch this little girl, bred here at Shebos, walk into a Boston Terrier Specialty ring at just four months old and show with such confidence was an incredibly proud moment.

The beautiful Baby Puppy in Show rosette she brought home from Queensland is a lovely reminder of the win, but for me the greatest satisfaction is seeing a breeding vision that began years earlier starting to come to fruition.
