Twistie x Ego Litter - Nearly 6 Weeks Old!

Our beautiful Twistie x Ego puppies will be 6 weeks old on Tuesday 5th May, and they are thriving at this stage of their development.

Over the past week I’ve spent quite a bit of time just sitting and watching them, and it really is such a lovely stage. Their little personalities are starting to shine through, and it’s always a mix of excitement and challenge as I begin to assess which puppy or puppies may be retained to move forward into my future show team. I do have my early favourites… but I’ll keep that to myself for now.

They are now well and truly enjoying their solid meals, with a varied diet to help them become accustomed to different food types. They are still having a small amount of warmed goat’s milk in one of their meals each day, while also happily drinking water ad lib. Over the coming week, I will begin introducing Royal Canin Puppy Starter Dry Food as part of their continued transition.

There are three girls and one boy in the litter, all developing beautifully in their own way. They are becoming increasingly confident and independent, using their puppy grass toilet mats like little champions and now starting to venture out into their own small backyard space via the doggy door, which they are thoroughly enjoying.

Twistie has been a wonderful mum, and as expected at this stage, she is beginning to step back from her role. She now tends to quietly pop in to check for any leftover food — although her stealth approach rarely works! The puppies are quick to notice her, and it usually turns into a lively little reunion as they all bounce up to greet her.

Next week will see them attend their 6-week health checks, vaccinations, and microchipping — another important milestone in their journey.
